You know, it’s funny – I grew up in Detroit and never heard much about Mardi Gras before moving to Chicago. I didn’t even know what a King Cake was until about 10 years ago! That said, my favorite of the Mardi Gras traditions are the paczkis!
Great post. I don’t celebrate Mardi Gras but these look like some great projects to do. I especially love that mask.
It looks like there are a ton of fun ideas here. Up here in the northeast (at least in Mass), we don’t do any kind of Mardi Gras celebrations. Actually, it’s not acknowledged anywhere around here that I know of,
Both of my boys received cute Mardi Gras cards from their grandmother yesterday. Who knew there were cards for Mardi Gras? – cause otherwise, we don’t really celebrate here. This list is full of fun ideas. I know my youngest would love to make Mardis Gras Playdough!
I’m absolutely going to make the mardi gras beads! LOL. Duct tape is a favorite craft project item around my house and I think the family will love it. It’s almost become a competition to see who can come up with the weirdest thing to make with duct tape.
We just found our new home yesterday and plan to move soon, I will definitely check out a few of these once we have moved. We love DIY crafting for decorating. While we do not celebrate Mardi Gras either, we can at least be festive and have fun doing it.
These are all great ideas! Honestly, I’m not much of a Mardi Gras person, primarily because I live in New England and it’s not a big thing for us here but, I do love all the colors and seeing all the excitement on TV.
That’s great that you’ve put everything together to find in a list like this, and it’s chock full of good ideas too. I’d like to visit Mardis Gras one time, just to say I’ve done it. 🙂
Ohh, love the list – thanks for sharing us these ideas!
Oooo, this is fantastic! Thank you so much for compiling so many things!
Love all of those ideas! I don’t celebrate it either, but this year I am thinking about making a kings cake.
I am Canadian who lives in Michigan and I am not sure myself what Mardi Gras is. You do have great ideas and that makes Mardi Gas looks fun.

Funny, I’ve always thought mardi gras was something only people in New Orleans celebrated!
Mardi Gras was always so fun in school. We’d make different foods and bring them in to share and have a party. Plus, I love the purple, gold, and green of Mardi Gras.
Great list! Just pinned your ideas and can’t wait to go through them more!
