The COVID-19 outbreak has changed everyone’s lives across the globe. With the looming uncertainties, it’s easy to feel unmotivated and subsequently suffer from low self-esteem.
If you’re struggling with productivity during quarantine, you’re not alone. These feelings of hopelessness and anxiety are normal responses to the worldwide repercussions of the pandemic. After all, people are dying, and the economy is taking a major hit.
Whether you’re working from home or currently not working, we’re sharing some tips to help you navigate feelings of melancholy.
Create a Routine
Spending all your time indoors with nowhere to go can trap you in a funk. One way to establish normalcy in your life is by creating a routine. Start your day like you usually do. Wake up early, take a shower, eat a filling breakfast, read the newspaper or your Leo daily horoscope, and go to bed early. Something as simple as following a routine can give your life a much-needed structure.
Set Everyday Goals
On social media, people seem to transform their lives and learn a million new things in a few days. But there is no need to put that kind of pressure on yourself. Start by setting small, everyday goals for yourself. For instance, give yourself two-days to clean and organize your closet. Or try out a new dinner recipe every day. Small victories are still victories.
Find a Productive Workspace
Are you working on your bed? Finding the motivation to work in a place of rest isn’t the best idea. Instead, find another corner of your house to set up a working space. Get a chair with proper back support and try to work in a room with good lighting. This way, you’ll feel like you’re actually going to work instead of working from home.
Look for Inspiration
What inspires you? It could be a heartwarming story of success or a TED Talk. So listen to podcasts, watch videos, and read articles to find inspiration.
Talk It Out
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed and it’s becoming difficult to get anything done, talk to your family and friends. Express your struggles and seek emotional support when you need it. There’s no shame in asking for help. You can also consider talking to a therapist for professional counseling.
Start Journaling
It would be unfair to put all your emotional turmoil on your family and friends. While they are always there for you, it’s a good idea to try to understand your emotions first. Writing down your feelings in a journal will help you clear your head and figure out what’s bothering you.
Master a New Skill
Whether you always wanted to read more but never had the time or get back into painting, this is a great time to master your creative endeavors. Even if you don’t have any creative hobbies, you can still perfect your baking and cooking skills.
Give Your Phone a Break
Your phone is a wonderful way to stay connected to the world. But this very device also constantly updates you about all the bad news in the world, which can further infuse negativity into your life. It’s best to take a break from your phone occasionally.
Say Positive Affirmations
Saying positive affirmations will subconsciously help you become more motivated and regain your confidence.
Show Gratitude
When the negativity is weighing you down, try to look and appreciate the good in your life. Expressing gratitude will fill you with positive emotions.
This is a difficult time, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Take time for yourself and relax. You deserve it! Hopefully, these tips help you get back on track and feel positive about yourself.
